puppyThe arrival of the nestling is awaits always with a lot of expectation, because a new member of the family will divide the routine of the day by day.
For that coexistence to work, some basic cares are essential and they should already begin in the first days.
In first place it should be known that the nestlings are full of energy. They discover the world through the sense of smell. They are curious and they need to take advantage of this phase to explore the atmosphere and to have fun. In this phase they are fragile and vulnerable what demands patience and dedication.
It is natural that the nestling cry in the first nights. If you don’t want the adult dog to sleep in the bed, don’t leave the nestling to sleep. At the most, put him in a bed beside yours. Another option is to catch a cloth and when you will look for him, scrub that cloth in the mother of the nestling to catch her smell. The night, put the cloth in the bed of the nestling, he will feel safer feeling the mother’s smell.
Teach the norms of the house early, because the dog will owe accustom to your routine.
Offer specific food. The portions should be ingested as soon as served. Don’t leave the exposed meal for more than 30 minutes, because it destroys and  becomes a middle of proliferation of bacteria. Habituate the animal to eat when it is served.
The bath should be made with warm water and specific shampoo. The animal should totally be dry, use a dryer of hair. To avoid the entrance of water in the ears, put cotton inside of them.
The nestling should make their needs in newspaper leaves or hygienic rug. You should teach him to go in the right place. As soon as wakes up, the nestling will urinate, then take him to the right place and wait. When he urinates, caress him and demonstrate that you liked. With the feces the procedure is the same. Therefore after his meal, the nestling will defecate, for that it takes him until the right place and await, when he defecates, act in the same way, caress him.
Provide toys for the nestling and don’t motivate aggressive games. After the vaccinations he will be capable to leave in the street. Use leash for walking with him. Don’t leave him free in the street to avoid accidents.
Don’t leave to the reach of the nestling sharp objects that he can get hurt or to swallow, remove poisonous materials (products of cleaning, plants, etc) of places where he has access. Don’t leave the open street door.
Consult the veterinarian to know the calendar of vaccines and vermifuge that the nestling needs.

otitis_externaOne of the most common problems in the dogs is the otitis externa. Different from the people, the dogs have very long ear canal and the shape in “L” hinders the visualization of the canal without the otoscope.
The format in “L” of the canal also hinders the exit of the water as she enters in the ear of the animal, causing infection and irritation. The dogs with pendulous ears, it creates a warm atmosphere, favorable for the growth of bacteria.
It is important to examine the ears of the animal to see if there are irritation or excessive formation if secretion. Secretion discharges are inflammation sign.
When giving bath in the animal, always put cotton in the ears to avoid that the water enters in the ear canal. And after the bath, dry the ears well.
Be more attentive to the dogs with pendulous ears, if the dog scratches the ears insistently or feels pain when being played in the area.

Do you take care of the nails of the animals?

catActive animals don’t usually suffer damages in the nails, that because the friction spends the nails.
The ones that are too long break usually or they come unfastened in the skin when they coil in bed linens, curtains or rugs.
Several nerves and blood vessels exist in the fingers, what does with that the damages in the nails are painful and usually bleed a lot, but it is rarely serious thing and a ready simple service solves.
A nail departure is painful, for that you will need somebody to hold the animal, while you make a ready service.
To remove the damaged nail, use a cutter of nails for animals.
If the intact portion of the nail be not opened, you can just cut the hung part.
If there is an indented extremity or forked bleeding, it is necessary that the nail is cut above the damaged part, the one that can mean cut almost close to the finger.
Dip the cutter firstly in the alcohol, later dry it well.
Hold the paw of the animal with firmness, position the cutter soon above the damage and cut quickly with a gesture.
Be prepared for a yelp, move back from the animal and more blood. If the bleeding doesn’t stop within 30 minutes it is necessary to cauterize the place.
When cutting the nail, if it bleeds, use a hemostat powder. Use a sponge to apply the powder, maintain that procedure until that the bleeding stops.
Damaged nails are infected easily because the bacteria of the soil enter for the fissures to the bed of the nail. Therefore make weekly inspections in the nails of the animals.

Cares with ticks

dogThe ticks affect the dogs much more than the cats because these tend to remove them when they clean, unless they don’t get to reach them. The ticks stay in the skin of the animal per days, while they suck his blood.
In the body of the animal, the parts with few hair and hard of reaching, as the ears, the armpits and among the fingers, are the favorite objectives of the ticks, but they can be found in any other place. Most of the time, the animal not even it will feel the bite, they hardly ever infect.
The ticks carry their minuscule own parasites (protozoa and bacteria), that can cause very serious diseases in animals and human beings, once they penetrate in the sanguine current.
It is for that is so important to remove the ticks as soon as possible. The retreat of the tick can be made with the topical application of ticks´s products or manually. In the manual retreat, don’t use the fingers to remove him, use a tweezers with round tips. Put discards gloves and be careful for not squeezing the body of the tick when it removes him, so that there is not contamination. Catch the very close body to the skin and the buccal pieces of the tick and pull him outside, in line straight, slow and smoothly, that will do with that the buccal pieces come unfastened more easily.
Don’t worry the head to come unfastened and to be file in the skin, that hardly ever happens, but if it happens, it should not cause problems for most of the animals.
Play the tick in a jug with alcohol, or inside of the toilet and give discharge.
Wash the place of the bite with antiseptic soap liquid. Apply an antibiotic ointment.

7 tips for Doggie dental care

1. If your dog hasn’t received a dental exam, take him to the vet first! He may require a cleaning, and then you can maintain his clean teeth at home.

2. Create a regular dental care routine at home. For example, you can brush your dog’s teeth with special canine toothpaste.

3. Never use human toothpaste or mouthwash. They can make your dog sick.

4. Start early! Grown dogs can learn to become comfortable with brushing, but make things easier for yourself by working with your dog as a puppy.

5. Take your dog to the vet if you see signs of dental problems:

  • Bad breathe
  • Change in eating or chewing habits
  • Pawing at the face or mouth
  • Depression
  • Excessive drooling
  • Misaligned or missing teeth
  • Discolored, broken, missing or crooked teeth
  • Red, swollen, painful or bleeding gums
  • Yellowish-brown tartar crust along the gum line
  • Bumps or growths within the mouth

6. Aggressive chewing on hard objects can cause broken teeth. Make sure you are providing safe objects for your dog to gnaw on.

7. During your dog’s annual check-ups, make sure your veterinarian takes a good look at his or her teeth to keep an eye out for any issue you may miss.

Immobile patients care

The position influences the distribution of blood flow to the lungs, changing body positions alters ventilation/perfusion relationships within the lungs.

Alternating right, sternal and left lateral recumbency every 4 hours is recommended for immobile patients.

Altered respiratory patterns in conjunction with immobility may lead to atelectasis, accumulation of respiratory secretions and pneumonia.

Coughing is the most important defense mechanism to eliminate retained secretions.
