A lot it is spoken about the passive smokers, that they are those that inhale the smoke of the smoker’s cigarette. It is known that the effects are the same ones for the passive smoker and assets.

With the animals the same happens. The smoking proprietors end for transforming their animals in passive smokers. In some cases the animal is so conditioned to the smell of the cigarette that seeks for him.

In the course of time they begin to present breathing problems as, coughs, rhinitis, tracheitis, asthma, bronchitis… and dermatological problems as, itch, hurt by the body.

Some animals got to present stains in the lung after ray X.
The treatment is symptomatic, but the most important is to stop smoking close to them, to maintain the atmosphere the airiest possible and a healthy feeding.

The vocalization for pet only turns a problem for the proprietors when it is excessive or they don’t get to control his appearance or his duration. The animals vocalize for several reasons as, pain, territorial demonstrations, attention, anxiety, social facilitation and aggressive encounters.

It is a normal pattern of communication between dogs and cats. When in excess it can be a component of certain processes of disease involving pain or disorientation.

In general the proprietor complains that the animal vocalizes in inadequate moments or incovenientes. That can happen when the proprietors are sleeping, resting, involved in other activities, soon before a walk or car walk, when it arrives home or it is about to leave, in the windows, doors, fences, people, animals and cars. To bark when visits arrive can be a lot of disturber, besides impeding the conversation.

To reduce the vocalization it is necessary to remove the incentives for the vocalization, to extinguish the vocalization in periods inadequate condition a new reaction, to teach the “Quiet” command, to increase the proprietor’s control and to provide service to the social needs, of games, exploratory and metabolic.

The Feeding Ritual: Negative Behaviors

Food carries a powerful message in the dog world. Puppies work for food by waiting patiently for their mother. This is a form of psychological exercise, and it’s important for a healthy state of mind.

Domestication has brought about a change in the way dogs receive their meals and in the way they behave before mealtime. Dogs will often become excited, anxious, or aggressive at the prospect of being fed. If you feed your dog when he displays negative behaviors, you are reinforcing the behavior, and it will almost certainly reoccur.

I feed many dogs at the same time with no problems. Dogs that show calm-submissive energy get to eat first, and dogs that show negative behaviors such as aggression or nervousness must wait. When these dogs project calm-submissive energy, I reward them with their meal – much like their mother or pack leader would do.

Mealtimes are a useful tool to help you connect with your dog and work to shape his demeanor. Make sure your dog has reached a calm-submissive state before you place the food bowl in front of him. By doing so, you are not only providing him with nutrition, you are helping him lead a balanced and happy life.

7 tips for Doggie dental care

1. If your dog hasn’t received a dental exam, take him to the vet first! He may require a cleaning, and then you can maintain his clean teeth at home.

2. Create a regular dental care routine at home. For example, you can brush your dog’s teeth with special canine toothpaste.

3. Never use human toothpaste or mouthwash. They can make your dog sick.

4. Start early! Grown dogs can learn to become comfortable with brushing, but make things easier for yourself by working with your dog as a puppy.

5. Take your dog to the vet if you see signs of dental problems:

  • Bad breathe
  • Change in eating or chewing habits
  • Pawing at the face or mouth
  • Depression
  • Excessive drooling
  • Misaligned or missing teeth
  • Discolored, broken, missing or crooked teeth
  • Red, swollen, painful or bleeding gums
  • Yellowish-brown tartar crust along the gum line
  • Bumps or growths within the mouth

6. Aggressive chewing on hard objects can cause broken teeth. Make sure you are providing safe objects for your dog to gnaw on.

7. During your dog’s annual check-ups, make sure your veterinarian takes a good look at his or her teeth to keep an eye out for any issue you may miss.

The cat in general demarcates or it scratches with their paws when waking up, in order to demarcate the areas where it passes great part of the time.

Effective Strategies for Cat Leash Training

Often it has been seen that whenever a cat owner opens the door, the cat runs out of the home. Probably the cat is just curious to have a look at the outside world. If that is your problem, then you should probably consider cat leash training. Cats are considered to be very stubborn and thus the question is quite obvious, can you leash train a cat? The answer is yes, cats can be trained on leashes. The trick is doing it the right way. Most cats (not all) can be leash trained with patience.

Before deciding whether you want your cat to be leash trained, you need to determine whether it’s even necessary. Does your cat love the outdoors or is it a cat who likes to stay indoors all the time? If all their needs are satisfied within the house, they will seldom leave the house. Considering their feline nature, they have certain hunting instincts in them. These instincts can be satisfied by placing a protected birdfeed or birdbath within view (not reach) of the cat. Also try to place some green grass within their reach, so whenever they need to eat it, it should be freely available to them. If all this doesn’t seem to satisfy your cat, however, leash training might be your best option.

Just as with any type of training, cat leash training will take a considerable amount of time. Do you remember the first time you tried to put a collar on your cat? The cat might have resisted putting it on and after you managed to put it on somehow, the cat would have been busy for hours trying to remove it. You will have a similar experience with the leash, but if your cat is already accustomed to a collar, half of the battle for leash training is won.

Start training your cat for a leash by attaching a leash to your cat’s collar. Do not tighten the leash and keep it slackened, so that the cat gets used to it. Also, do not walk or drag the cat the first time you put the leash on your cat. Let her get used to it. This is the secret of successful cat leash training. Try this method for a few minutes on the first day.

If the cat shows a little bit of uneasiness, distract him by offering his favorite toy or food. Repeat this for several days till the cat gets accustomed to the leash. Once it is comfortable, just keep the leash on for few minutes everyday.

Next, try to walk your cat around the house. Once she gets accustomed to walking with the leash on, try to take her outdoors. Put the leash on for longer times now and walk with it even while it is walking casually. If the cat at this moment is comfortable, then consider your cat trained to walk on a leash. Next time you are going outside, just leash your cat and take it outside with you.

Training your cat to walk on leash can be difficult and the secret to its success lies in the innate nature of cats. A cat needs food, shelter and love, so you have to use these things as tools to leash train your cat. Whenever you are giving any sort of training to your cat, food is the biggest motivator. After food, love takes prominence, which you should use effectively.
